Ships Sunk during WW2

It is thought that some ship's names were never recorded as being sunk, either as an oversight because of the number that were lost, or because it was "sensitive". It could also be that the ship's name had been changed "mid-voyage" so to speak. Paul |

The naval history site was very useful. The ship I was hoping to find wasn't listed there and I've browsed through looking for something that rings a bell but so far, no luck. Not to worry though, it's a site I knew nothing about and is now residing in my favourites. Thank you. ~Sharon |

There's bound to be something about it at The National Archives... Not sure whether you live near enough to visit, but you could try looking online. |

I know that my father served in the RN during WW2 and that he was onboard a ship that was sunk by a u-boat and had to spend 8 days on a raft in the Med before being picked up by a German ship and taken to a POW camp in Italy. Does anybody know if there's an index of ships sunk during WW2 or anything else that could help me find out more about this? I'd really like to know when this happened as it would help me piece together a part of my family jigsaw. Thanks in advance ~Sharon J |
