Hi Ann I have just been given Family Tree Maker 2005 for Christmas (quite a few people on here recommended it) and I really like it - in fact, I've already set up my webpages! If you already have your tree on GR etc, you can just export the Gedcom file and drop it straight in. You can add photos, video clips, etc - and it's very user friendly. I will email you direct with my webpage address so that you can have a look and see what you think. I got mine from TWR Computing (online genealogical supplies), it's the Deluxe version which includes some data discs, and was £33.90 inc delivery. Mandy :)

Hi Ann Have had the same problem myself. I actually use Legacy as my regular programme, because I really like the way it holds and presents the information, but unfortunately it does not draw drop down trees, which I also want badly. The programme I have found which really does this well is Genbox. You can download a trial version from www.genbox(.)com. (Remove the brackets around the dot.) So what I do is use Legacy day to day, and when I want to draw out a tree, I save the Legacy info as a Gedcom, and import it into Genbox, and then draw the tree. Sounds complicated. Takes less than 2 minutes. Wonderful visual trees - bit like a London Underground map, lines going off in all directions. Ah well, little things please little minds I suppose, but I'm too old to care. It amuses me! Hope this is of help to you. Tina

I amtrying to decide which programme to buy. I already have family Tree V4 which is very basic and not very user friendly. I can't decide between teh two that I have narrowed my list to. Family Tree Maker 2005 or Roots magic. I really want one that does a different 'tree' to the pedigree type. I like 'drop down' trees better myself. Anybody advise me please? Ann glos
