when was birth registration law ?

So many gaps between census and missings names who appear later when was it Law that all births had to be registered? |

Civil registration began 1st July 1837 and the law was tightened up 1875. Some registrations got "lost" between the local register office and the General Register Office, If you put details of who/what you are trying to find on the board I am sure someone can help you. nell |
