Hi Diane, pleased to hear that you got your discs working. Bit stupid really, it's supposed to be software that's good for beginners - and it is, except you have to be an expert to get the discs working LOL!! I too emailed them with a website query; they answered in less than 24 hours and this was Boxing Day, so quite impressed! Happy New Year! Mandy :)

Hi Carole, To be honest I haven't really browsed them yet, only got them working yesterday. But I did buy an Ancestry parish record disc before and it hasn't helped me one bit. So I won't be holding my breath, lol. Cheers Diane

Hi Diane, I am already registered with Ancestry, so most of that info I already have access to. How useful are the Parish Registry discs? Carole

Mandy, you are a star. I've now got them all working. What a pallaver!! I have that 1851 census sample on a disc already and it just works from the viewer. Talk about make it hard. Thanks very much Dianex btw, the Pallots index has a view online button and when I tried it it took me onto it for free!

Thanks Mandy, It's a bit strange as I have installed 3 different Ancestry viewers now!! Don't like to make things easy for us do they?? Will have a bash with it over the weekend I think. Will probably get really fed up if I start again now, I have no patience at the best of times. Diane

Hi Diane I have just got the Deluxe version which also comes with a set of five discs. I also thought they were 'empty', especially as I seem to remember someone mentioning that problem on here recently. Some of them have got installation instructions and others you just view via FTM. And one of them has got the wrong set of instructions! You need to install at least one of them in order to get 'Ancestry View'. Once you've got that on your pc, keep the disc in the CD drive. Then you should be able to view. Try them all this way first, then keep each disc in and try viewing it via FTM - view - view CD. I'm not very good at explaining things so I hope this makes sense. My hubby is an IT man and although I'm not hopeless on the pc, this was such a puzzle that he did have to help me. Feel free to email me though if they still don't work. Good luck! Mandy :)

Hi Carole, 1851 census sample, British Chancery 1 and 2, Pallots marriage and baptism discs don't work 1891 london census on 3 discs all fine, Cambridge alumni fine. English and Scottish parish records both fine. Hopefully somebody can tell me whats what, as I believe I recently read someobdy else was having problems. btw if you do decide to buy it's £34.99 in pcworld for the collectors edition.

Hmmm, I'll be watching this thread with interest, as I was thinking about buying this myself. What's on the discs, or is that a dumb question, as they don't work. Carole
