This marriage is indexed under both Murdoch and Booth with Alford as the brides maiden name and Camberwell 5a 1598 as the reference and in both cases the grooms christian names are given as Robert K. My guess is that Eileen M Alford married Robert K Murdoch who was also known as Robert K Booth and so the marriage was indexed under both names. Perhaps one surname was his birth name, the other that of a stepfather? There will only be one marriage certificat,e with groom named as "Robert K Murdoch also known as Booth" or something similar. Judith (I have added this reply on your Record Office thread as well)

Vince I have posted a more detailed reply on your thread over on the records board. I have checked 1837online, there are 2 Eileen M Alfords, both marrying in Camberwell Q1 1968. The ref is 5a 1598 for both of them (volume 5a, page 1598) Sam

Vince, If you're looking at FreeBMD, it shows the other people under the same reference number. The fact that you might only have 3 people will be because the full BMD Indexes are still being transcribed - ie, they're not yet complete. Best to look at 1837online to be sure before you rush off and buy the certificate. Good luck, Jane
