Hi I joined up about 2 years ago, got no where so gave up. I rejoined 2 months ago, but had subsequently changed my email, and could not remember my old login etc, so I am on here twice. Have no idea how to cancel all the previous information which is completely out of date. I do agree that it is frustrating when you don't receive a reply, but most are probably people who gave up. However, on a positive note, I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and a huge THANK YOU for all the help and advice that I have received in the past 2 months. Lozie :-)

I also agree, but some people as stated don't check their message all that often. Some are not convinced that is their line, so don't bother to answer, as in one of my husbands but when he did I was able to help him, it was his family and I was able to give him the couples marriage that he had been looking for. There was one problem on the birth certificate it said his mother maiden name was Drudge, it was in fact Dridge, he was not convinced this was the right family until I have found them in 1871 which had them altogether, he was thrilled to at last find the missing marriage and the Dridge family as that is our name also, ours changed in 1913 to Dredge. I just came on, and saw this message and totally agree. I have been e.mailing someone about some ancestors and everytime I find one of mine...her name pops up...so I know that her rellies are my rellies. I gave her access to my tree when she asked me...but she has ignored me for seven requests to view hers...how rude...we are here to help aren't we.? Happy searching peeps.

Paul I think we have all had this problem sometimes. Christine is probably right that people come on GR for a while then don't look again, or perhaps have a look several months later. I have 1 contact who I knew was connected because one of the Christian names was VERY unusual. I finally heard from him after about 7 months and he agreed that we had the same family. I gave him access to my tree and am still waiting for further comment 6 months later. Ah well - some of us are more addicted than others.:)) Chrissie

I've often wondered, can people reply to messages if they are not now fully paid up members? Maybe they never have been or that their memberships have lapsed. I think a lot of people put on their trees when this site was first advertised on Friendsreunited, but then never came back on but unfortunately their trees are still on the site and people continue to send them messages. How many times is it polite to e-mail a person who you definiately know is researching the same people as you are? A message of acknowledgement is appreciated. Sorry I am to busy at present will do. Why put you tree on GR if you cannot be bothered to answer and perhaps cross over that brickwall you have come across? So please please answer messages. Chris
