Hi, I looked on Ancestry via the gale site, is the paid site likely to be any different? I suppose the main trouble is that its a pair of JONES twins and most likely to be in LONDON !!! :-((( I am cursed! I have their parents names but can't find them before the 1871 census I am not going to give up yet, !!!!! Jean

Unless you're looking on a different section of Ancestry, the Ancestry BMD database for England & Wales is a copy of the one on FreeBMD. When FreeBMD has just been updated, there is sometimes a spell on Ancestry (before it uploads teh new version) when it has less than FreeBMD. On the other hand there are advantages about the Ancestry search - [1] it's much faster [2] you can search the whole database at once. The downside is that sometimes you get a dazzling number of "hits" to trawl through and I haven't seen a way you can search marriages using both names at once (if you have them). Some counties/regions have their own searchable BMD sites (see ukbmd.org.uk for a list of links). If you're lucky, they might cover a relevant area for you. They aren't completely transcribed yet (neither is FreeBMD), but the fees are the same as GRO and (since the BBC prog) they're not only "as fast" but much faster than GRO. Christine

Jean the frc should have them, you could ask on here or the records board if anyone is going, they may be able to do a look up for you in the office, sandra

Thanks for the tip, Sandra. Found the site but still couldn't find my twins but did find a younger brother. Now have an address for him in the 1871 and 1891 census but really need to find where they were living when the twins were born. Its a great site though, Thanks. Will the books at FRC have them in do you think? Not easy for me to go but will have to try later in the year. Jean

Sandra I could be wrong, but I was under the impression that the BMD's on Ancestry were the same as what are on the FreeBMD sites Jeanette x

Are there any other websites for finding births? I am trying to find twin births about 1858 but all the pages where they would be on 1837 are missing or not clear. I cannot find them on BMD or Family search either. Any suggestions? Is the only hope the books at FRC or will they be the same.? Am desperate to find them so I can get at least one of the birth certificates. Grateful for any suggestions. Thanks Jean
