Hi Mark The site 'Police Orders' which lists the recruitment, transfer, promotion and retirement of Met Police is currently closed except to those who have already registered. If you post the name of your relative and the approximate date he would have served I could check if they have anything on him. For a full record of service a trip to Kew may be necessary. go to http://www(.)catalogue(.)nationalarchives.gov.uk and search on Metropolitan Police to see what is available. dave

Hi Mark Can see you on the message board at Police Orders, not sure if you were able to get into the database so just in case 30/07/1888 73850 WILLIAM T BRINDLEY PC 275 E JOINED 16/07/1890 73850 WILLIAM BRINDLEY PC 275 E To 581 J 17/07/1890 08/08/1891 73850 BRINDLEY PC J PAY INCREASE 23/01/1899 73850 BRINDLEY PC 551 J DISCIPLINARY 10/02/1900 73850 BRINDLEY PC J PAY INCREASE 01/04/1902 73850 BRINDLEY PC 551 J DISCIPLINARY 18/07/1903 73850 BRINDLEY PC J PAY INCREASE 04/08/1913 73850 BRINDLEY PC 551 J PENSIONED 03/08/1913 07/09/1914 O5720 WILLIAM BRINDLEY PC J REJOINED If you are going to research further at National Archives the number 73850 is William's warrant number and would be unchanged thoughout his service and will identify him in all files. He appears to have rejoined as a war reserve or special and was given the warrant number 05720 which probably part of a series designated for reserves/specials. merry xmas dave
