Aren't we all doig it on a budget?! Unfortunately, it's not a hobby that can be done on a very tight budget. FreeBMD is not much help to you or us because they are not complete and are rather patchy for the times that Catherine probably married. 1837 would be your best hope.

If you can find any children born to her that will give her maiden name, therebye then being able to find her marriage. Irene

Have you bought her marriage cert? She obviously married AFTER 1837 which means that her marriage cert will give her maiden name. Way to do this would be to search for the person you know was her husband and buy the cert! It's a good hobby but it's not cheap.

As she was born before official registration ,she wouldn't have a birth certificate. Try ordering a birth cert of one of her children .It should state her maiden name on that . try www.1837online(.)com. (Remove brackets. )to get reference and district. You can order online from www(.)col.statistics.gov.uk (remove brackets).Or you can order her childs b/cert direct from the Local registration district office. It will cost £7.00 You might find her baptism/christening records at the local family records office.
