Hiya, am trying to trace Catherine Williams - married name (b1835) in Marazion, Cornwall. On the 1841 census, there are 3 Catherine's of the correct age with the surnames Holman / Roberts / Wills - Can anyone help me to find out if anyone with these names married Thomas Williams (b1835) in the years before 1859 (when their first child Elizabeth J was born) Please please help, if you can, Juliana x

Have you tried looking on FreeBMD? You could put his name in and start by specifying Cornwall and go through the years backwards one at a time and see whether any of the relevant partners turn up on the same pages as the Thomases. There are some serious gaps though between 1837-1859, so it may not be transcribed yet. Have you got Elizabeth J's birth cert? that should give her mother's maiden name. Christine

How confident are you of Thomas DoB being 1835? I had a look in the 1891 census pages-transcripts (i.e. the database source transcripts for FreeCEN) for Marazion and found: RG12/1855 Folio 22 Page 17 Lays Lane,1,Thomas Snr Williams,Head,M,65,,General Labourer,Employed,Marazion Cornwall,, ,,,Kate Williams,Wife,M,,54,Charwoman,Employed,Marazion Cornwall Kate would be the right age, but Thomas is another 8-10 years older. I had a look at the other Marazion area list and couldn't find anotehr Thomas & Catherine Williams. The earlier censuses for that area haven't been transcribed yet. Christine
