	Hi, we had a long thread on this not so long back. A Nurse Child is a foster child, taken in by the family.

Member Since: May 2004 Posts: 17,743 Send Message	My grandmother was left as 1 yr nurse child in 1891.She was still there in 1901.I asked the same question.Her birth cert gave her parents as married but havnt found any marriage and dont know where to look for them on the census.Such a pain.

Member Since: April 2003 Posts: 452 Send Message	I have a 7 year old nurse child staying with an ancestor in 1881. In 1891 she is shown as "daughter". i.e. unofficially adopted.
