Thanks Mark, there are loads as you say on north wales bmd and I recognise quite a few which is great. I'm very interested in James and will definitely do some digging there as Ive struggled to get the right birth cert for him. I'm still struggling with where to look before 1837 as they're not in the Hope parish records so perhaps they didn't do church or I'm looking in the wrong place. thanks very much to everybody for their help. Mark's look more likely than mine to be direct family for you. I'm so used to looking in the English ones I sometimies don't engage brain to look at the Welsh Local BMD sites! Christine

Before you cross the border go to North Walesd BMD it appears to me they are listed there http://www*northwalesbmd*org*uk/bmd_welcome*html (remove* and replace with.) For example 1846 James Sub Dist Hawarden Registers Flintshire East-Hawarden Ref HAW/03/66 1856 Eliza Sub Dist Mold Registers Flintshire West-Holywell Ref Mold/13/49 1857 George Sub Dist Hawarden Registers Flintshire East-Hawarden Ref HAW/07/82 1861 Barbara Sub Dist Hawarden, Flintshire East -Hawarden Ref HAW/09/58 The others all appear to be listed as well. Cheers Mark

doing my usual - following up otehr people's puzzles. had a look on http://www.cheshirebmd.org.uk and found Cheshire Marriage indexes for the years: 1840 Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference ANKERS Edward WILLIAMS Ann Chester, St Martin Cheshire West CE61/1/47 this isn't unique and may not be yours, but the names & date tie in with the first child. flintshire ~& cheshire are next to each other - so maybe the towns overlap the boundaries

I'm stuck. I have relatives who lived in Higher Kinnerton near Hope, Flintshire in wales - at least I thought but have now found census records that say Kinnerton Doddleston which I thought was Cheshire. I'm looking for the parent of Edward Ankers born c1816 who married Ann. Children james b 1841,Elizabeth 1856, george 1858 Barbara 1860, edward 1862, edward 1864 thomas 1867. I thought I was ok getting the Hope Parish records but now I'm completely stumped as there are no ankers in there. All suggestion of where to look next gratefully received. (I can see Edward on census returns) Thanks for looking . Denise
