Thanks Wayne, but my research hasn't yet revealed the clan roots. The family obviously pitched up in Edinburgh in the early 19th century, but I've yet to find out where from. Happy New Year, Darryl

Hello Wayne, I'm anticipating that MacLeod and McLeod are interchangeable. My gt-gt-grandmother was Annie McLeod (1847-1913), the daughter of John McLeod, a shoemaker of Shoemaker's Close in the Canongate, Sanderson's Land, Edinburgh. John was the son of William McLeod and Euphemia Petrie, born 1797 and died 1873. In 1825 he married Christian (correct) Clark (born Edinburgh 1805). If this leads anywhere within your clan history, I'd be delighted to hear from you. Thanks, Darryl
