Oh you brilliant people. Thanks so much. Just shows you how a small thing like getting a name as John instead of James can put you right out. Many thanks., I will look it up myself again. Silly, I had tried all combinations for the surname being mistranscribed not the first! I just had a look - can see where transcriber went wrong (must have been 5.30 on a Friday). Just a bit above is someone called John W. I guess his eye must have wandered. He has also made a mess of the next page with the lodger on it. The age column next to the lodger has been used to total up the people in Acorn Street!

Hi, so I am so pleased to have found Great Grandad in the 1901 Kellys directory for London, Hanson, James Wm, wood carver 21 Acorn Street, Camberwell. Right I think, then he must be on the 1901 census (had assumed he had kicked bucket before then). He would be 69. Do you think I can find him? NOPE Anyone with a moment, can you use your fresher eyes please? He may still have "wife" Phoebe with him.
