marriage certificate

On my great grandparents marriage certificate, my great grandmothers name not only appears in the bride and groom column , but also in her fathers column (ie no fathers name).anyone any thoughts please as I am at a dead end with his name. Hi, It may be that she was illegitimate and it is her mother's name in the Father's place. Gwynne |

You don't say when this was, but if you could find her birth cert/baptism record, it might help solve this mystery. nell |

Hello Gwynne and Nell It is a good point Gwynne maybe she was illegitimate, I dont suppose she would be the first. The marriage was 8 march 1859 and her age given as 23 years( just missing the 1837records which makes it a bit more difficult to get her baptism)Her name was Elizabeth Bailey married in St Pauls church Bedminster Somerset to John Billinger Kind Regards Colin Vaughan |
