Pricsilla and Druscilla S. - same person? Could it

Dear all, I'm interested in your opinion here. I found census records for my great-grandmother Lily May Lipscombe in 1901. Her parents were Sydney and Priscilla LIpscombe, aged 33 and 32, living in Chipping Wycombe. On the 1891 census, I found a Sydney T. Lipscombe, aged 24 and a Druscilla S. Lipscombe, living in Chipping Wycombe as a couply without children. As Lily May wasn't born until 1892 and the civil parish and ages match up, I was wondering whether it is possible that Druscilla Lipscombe and Priscilla Lipscombe could be the same person and that the handwriting of the name was just read wrongly when transcribing the records. I also found a GRO entry for a wedding of Sidney Lipscombe and Drusilla Kearly in Wycombe for 1890. What would you say - is this always the same couple? I mean, how big is the chance that there are two Sydney Lipscombes of the same age living in Chipping Wycombe and married to women with almost the same first names? Regards, Heike

Heike, It all points to them being the same couple. Occupation matches too. Crista

Occupation? Did you find occupation for them? I looked it up on Ancestry and the extra facts are not listed, but one has to try and read the original image which I find hard to do.

Looking at the image, it could quite easily be mixed up. Looks like both to me depending on which line I follow lol Think it's been mis-transcribed in 1901 - should be Druscilla.

Heike, Sidney/Sydney is a butcher in both censuses. Crista

Wow, thanks for the info. Now, isn't that weird. My father's Thuringian ancestors were butchers and now my mother's ancestors are as well. Gee, what a family. I think I found Druscilla on the 1871 census, though there she's called Dulcelia. Thanks for your help, now I can add Sydney and Druscilla/Priscilla/Dulcelia to my family tree with more certainty. I'll get the wedding certificate of them and see how the first name looks there. Regards, Heike
