He could have been a gunner or signalman attached to a merchant ship Peter

If he died in WW2 he should be on the Commonwealth wargraves site. I can't find him there.

This is a list of some of the ships damaged or sunk in the italian landings or action off italy Warspite Janus Spartan Uganda Abdiel New Foundland Cleopatra The only other thing that might help is that one job he might of done was Gunnery adviser They worked with the Army to direct fire from ships. They worked close to the battle front.

I know he was in the Royal Navy and he was missing presumed dead on June 13 1944 in Italy in the liberation of Europe someone suggested he went down with his ship and drowned the list on 1837 gives ships names but his (if it is his)just says Adviser I must admit that does sound like a job would that mean he stayed on board do you think

He is not in the Gazette Sorry. Are the people above and below his name Given a ship and is it the same one. if what. I have a feeling that Adviser is more a job than a ship. Is there any thing more you can give to help

I have looked for a ship with that name and Zero hits. Have you applied for his service record this would list his last ship. You can get them via MOD or NRO Kew. If you have a name I could look to see if his name is in the London Gazette

Any Navy Ship is automatically H.M.S. because that stands for His (or Her) Majesty's Ship

my Uncle died while serving in the Royal Navy I have found what I believe to be his Death record but wondered could he have served on a Ship called Adviser or would it have had to be a H.M.S and then the name thanks
