Only after 1928 did women over 21 get the vote. Ladies much older could from 1923. Irene

You colud try applying for her death cert and hope she had not married

Until the 1911 census, all you can do is look for her marriage, her children and her death in the GRO indexes and if you have an address from any of the certs, you can go through the electoral roll (though she wouldn't be eligible to vote until 1918, her husband would be listed). I'd be more inclined to check out the family she was with and see if there was a family connection of some kind. nell

Lisa Can't think what you want other than to see if she married and had any family. You can start to look from the 1901 census forward in the marriages and see if you can find a possible marriage for her. If its on Freebmd or Ancestry up to about 1910 you may get 2 possible males that could have married her by clicking on the page number. Unless someone in the family can remember the odd name but can't remember the connection. Other than that I'm sorry not to be of more help. If you know the parish perhaps a look at the parish records may help. Irene

OK then time to try and snap myself out of my low by doing something constructive! Back in 1888 my ggrandmother had an illegitimate daughter - I have a copy of the birth cert. She appears in the 1891 census living with a family - not her birth family - in the same village and described as their niece, and again in the 1901 census but this time described as their grandaughter. I don't know where to go next to try to find her - have looked on Ancestry and 1837 but can't find anything other than the birth cert. Am I really stuck until the 1911 census is released? Any advice appreciated. Lisa
