Custom House is in East London, it runs into Canning Town. It used to be in Essex, but now in the London Borough of Newham. Most of my family come from there. Sandra

As I said, there were lots of Customs Houses. I am trying to find out about the one in Stepney as my GGFx3 was a customs officer there.

Hi I use to live in Custom House, which is in the East End of London, its near Plaistow, City Airport, years ago Custom House was Essex. Hope this will help Maxine

Hi, there were quite a lot of Customs Houses. Does it not say the area on your info? If you google Essex Customs Houses you get a lot of articles up. Also the National Maritime Museum has lists of customs houses.

It could be in Harwich essex. I found Old Customs House, West Street by do a simple search. I dont know if this is right but it gives you a start.

I have a Louisa Jane Marett aged 24 born Essex Customs House. What was this place and where was it. Many thanks Linda
