Have a note and details relating to Uncle Frank Ingram who sailed to New Orleans on Jan 8th 1898. Can anyone suggest how I find out specifics of the ship he travelled on, his arrival, etc. Unaware if he returned back to England or stayed in America, but also have photos from Wyoming, Illinois. Could this be him? 2. Frank Ingram S'hampton 1898 48 Arrived in New York. This is from the Ellis Island website.

If you go to the Ellis Island site you can see the actual ships manifesto and look at his name and anyone travelling with him. This is totally free and you can downlaod the page. You merely have to register you name etc.

Thanks for the above website - wow! I knew I had ancestors that went to America in the early 1900s but didn't know when exactly or from which port etc. I found them in minutes!!! It's definitely them as their residence is correct and all the children are there that should be. I wondered if anyone could advise me though? I've found my gt granny with 5 of her children, all together on the ships manifest. Her husband travelled on the same ship, departure date etc but he's on a separate sheet? (hope I make sense!!) Also, is there a way of finding when they returned to the UK? I believe it what the following year. It was really great to see a picture of the ship they travelled on!!! WOW!!
