thanks for your info kathleen . i will try the local parish church, i have done a search within 20 years of his birth, and no luck, i do have a marriage certificate for them, and this does give both their fathers names , but to no prevail i cant find him either, was it possable they may of been brought up by other fanily members? or other friends of the family? |

Hi Elizabeth, yes it is worth searching his local parish to see if he was baptised. However I have found that ages on census records and marriage entries can often be inaccurate and it may be worth your while broadening your search of the GRO records. good luck kathy |

i found jonathan midgley and his wife suzannah on the 1901 census, but i cant find a birth for him! i know he was born in 1865, and also know the district, but he isnt registered at the district office. is it possable that the parish church where he was born near may hold a record? |
