Don't bother. They are charging you to search records which are available free or cheaper elsewhere. They charge £6 for a one year search of the BMD index, which is free on FreeBMD and less than £1 for a year's search on 1837online. Despite what the website implys, you can search the index for free if you go to the Family Records Centre in London. The 1881 census is free on familysearch.org, and is now available on Ancestry. St Caths will charge you £15 for a certificate which you can buy for £7 from the GRO or Register Office. |
