I am trying to find out why and where my Great Grandfather went to prison somewhere between 1890 - 1920 ish. Is there anywhere where I can type in his name to find out?? I have no idea where to start looking! Thank-you for any advice

Have you found him on the 1891-1901 census. Will this give the name of the prison he was in so you can narrow it down?.Of course if it was later the 100 yr rule applies....Have just typed in prisons on the text board .All seem to say The National Archives are where the records are kept. You can search on line but need to know the prison
