Where should I look to find the parents of someone born in 1790. I don't know for sure where he was born but believe it to be the London area. His children were born in Lambeth, Surrey and Westminster, Middlesex. His name was William Lightfoot. Thanks in advance for any advice. Alison

Thats a hard one. Without a definite information on a location pretty much impossible. Have you tried the IGI at familysearch.org. You might strike lucky if it's an unusual name. If its not you will have a hard job. For that time you need parish registers. Diane There is a marriage for a William Lightfoot in 1790 Shoreditch on the IGI nothing else for london

Might be worth trying to see if you can see the source info for that marriage. Given the habit of naming the first-born after a parent or grandparent, that could easily be the parents (leaving it a bit late?!) Christine
