Purchase a boxed set of say the Yorkshire 1871 Census for about £45 from S&N. Put each of the individual CDs on ebay at ' buy now' £5 if they all sell profit of £200 plus....... who needs the lottery ? ... :-) dav

I have sold quite a few on ebay, but I only sell the genuine article as received from the original supplier. There are quite a lot of genuine ones, but as said before, watch out for the wrong uns.

Hi Susan, Be careful you are getting the 'real' thing!! Stepping Stones put this warning on their website some time ago: "It has been brought to our attention that two customers have purchased our Census Returns on eBay and received illegal copies; the price paid was actually more than our retail price! Please note the seller lives in Somerset and the Police and our solicitors are dealing with the matter. Another customer has kindly sent us a fake copy of one of our products; it was purchased on eBay from a seller who has already sold a number of copies of the product. BEWARE - the seller is advertising the genuine product with a photo but sending out something totally different. The seller allegedly bought a JOB lot from an auction , his eBay ID is luckyjbblack This is also an infringement of Crown copyright and they have been informed. Another culprit is selling copies of our Trade Directory CDs but he does send a receipt (nice of him), his name is Alan Watt from Dundee So please be careful when buying anything on ebay" Debbie

Anyone looking to buy census discs should look on ebay. The numbers for sale there is increasing all the time. I picked up the set for Somerset 1851 Census and it was invaluable in sorting out mother's side of the family. Am now working on my fathers side and he is from Yorkshire - big area and a lot of people! I have just been picking up discs of particular areas i am researching. Be careful not to pay more than what they are from the original suppliers tho.
