I sometimes use the electoral rolls that are available on the internet. I recently looked for someone on www.192(.)com but could not find them. I then looked for them on www.b4usearch(.)com and they were on there. Not sure why they were on one and not the other. Probably because they are not aware that they have to request in writing to be removed. As usual - remove brackets in web address Norman

It's very much an emotional roller coaster for her especially at being rebuffed and at such a young age. She may now have stopped looking or is trying another tack ie her father's family. Do you know which agency/social services she was adopted from - if so - you can contact them and leave them details that you want contact. She may have left her contact details in case her mother changed her mind or her father wanted contact. Have you tried looking at friends reunited. At her age she is likely to either be registered or at least having a look. You could possibly place a Trying to find message (be discreet) on there as well as here. If you put her old name in then you don't impinge on data protection (I don't think as her name doesn't now exist). If you know the area she lives in you could trying phoning families with the same name and asking if "?" is there? Must be very discreet (schoolfriend) as her adoptive family might not know she was looking. Other websites to leave messages on are Lookupuk*com and Missing-you*net

Hi, When somebody is not on the electoral roll, is there another list they may be on? I know my adopted sister has attempted to contact her birth family, but there is a fair chance she only tried to contact my mother (who refused) and she does not know she has siblings. I've gone through social services, but my social worker informs me it can be quite a lengthy wait. I have the post adoptive name, as well as the pre adoptive one. The reason she is not on the electoral roll is because she has only turned 18 a few months ago, and I don't want to wait a year or so until it's likely she will appear. How do I find census records? Is this process expensive?
