My great great grandfather should be on the 1901 census aged 17 but i cannot find him at all. He is Oliver Cromwell Johnson and was born in Leciester in 1884. He is on the 1891 census aged 7 with his parents Alfred and Jane in Sheffield. He married wife Beatrice in 1907 and died 1917 in WW1. But i cant find him on the 1901. Would anyone have any ideas to why this could be or where he could be? Thanks, Claire

I was intrigued and followed up Peter's idea, specifying "male", but with a bit of an age-range to allow for discrepancies and got this list: Name Age Where Born Administrative County Civil Parish Occupation Oliver Johnson 15 Glam Cardiff Glamorgan St Mary Oliver Johnson 15 Lancs Morecambe Lancaster Poulton Bare & Torrisholme Edge Minder Table ... Oliver Johnson 16 Lancs Urmston Lancaster Urmston Gardener Domestic Olive Johnson 17 Haneton Park Lanc Sheffield Brightside Bierlow Boiler Maker Roller Oliver Johnson 17 Durham Waldridge Durham Chester Le Street Coal Miner Putter Oliver Johnson 18 Earls Colne Essex Essex Halstead Urban Enigneer Turner Oliver Johnson 18 Staffs Longton Staffordshire Longton Potters Fireman Oven Oliver Johnson 18 Warwickshire Aston Staffordshire Handsworth Railway Engine Cleaner Oliver Johnson 19 Bedfordshire Bedford Lancashire Preston Hatter Hosier Assist The only problem is that none of them is born in Leicestershire - or not according to the transcriptions (which are clearly not infallible). The 17-yr-old(ish) males called "Olive(r)" and born in Leics don't seem to have surnames resembling Johnson. Christine

Hi Christine, The Olive Johnson aged 17 looks to be the only one that could be him, He is definately born Leicester but 1891 census classed it as in Yorkshire! he was a boiler maker in 1907 and will be in sheffield in 1901 so is the only one really that could be him can you see who he is with at all?
