I have been looking for the birth of a William Chippindale/Chippendale but I can not find it on the1837 site is this complete? The only clue that I have got is the family bible in which it gives a DOB of 1851 which does tie in with the marriage cert that I have got. My problem is, do I try to order the birth cert on the information in the family bible or continue to plough through the 1837 site but mong the range of years to check. Any help would help thanks

Melvny if he was born at the end of the year he could be in the march quarter of the following year due to registration. If it is a baptism date record i would look for a few years before 1851, if you post his name date and area i'll have a look for you as well on ancestry sandra

1837online is as complete as the BMD index will ever be. You could try the local register office (local to the birth) in case the registration never made it to the GRO. Or the birth may never have been registered, in which case there is no certificate. Try looking for any siblings,. If you can't find any of them, you'll know that the family never registered any births.
