Kerry, Would you like the 1881 image? If so send me a message with your email and I'll mail it back to you. Update ..... have found them on the 1901 too. Mistranscribed as expected. I think they're in Lambeth, but not the address you wanted, but the writting is hard to read. I can mail them both. Sioux

My father acted as executor for an elderly neighbour. We have her parents' marriage certificate from the 1880s. There are neither geographical nor bloodlinks between me and that certificate. I think that the only way to make the link would be via directories of the early 1960s. B

I 'v had a look for the name as well and agree with Cristine. KETURAH there are two ways to pronounce it KI-TOOR-A or KEE-TYOOR-A

Christine in Herts

Christine in Herts Report 5 Dec 2004 13:32

By the way - i'd guess that the bride's name is likely to be Keturah rather than Kelurah. Keturah is a biblical (Old Testament) name. Christine

Wow, Thanks folks, Now that I have more information I can ask my inlaws if the names or addresses mean anything to them. Its very strange that they have a marriage certificate that they have no recollection of obtaining. Again thanks and I will let you know if I find out who they are. Kerry

Kerry As 137 is listed as occupied it will be one of the 2 listings,i would reckon 3-4 people did the census in that street,at the end you will see some additions where someone must have gone back to get the strays. At one of the houses there is 4 lower listings but no upper. John.

Kerry, Could the grooms name be John Hedglong? I looked on freebmd for the marriage(Dec quarter 1879) and the lady is down as Keturah Emilia L. On the same page is John Hedglong, I then looked on the 1881(Family Search) and found a John Hedglong with a Louise K A Hedglong(looks like she changed her name round if its her) They have a daughter Kate aged 7 months. They are living at 8 Walnut Tree Walk Lambeth. Good Luck Gwen

I'm waiting for some certificates to arrive and cant get on untill they do. So to give me something to do my inlaws have given me their mystery marriage certificate. They dont know who the people are or where the certificate came from. I cant make out the grooms name, but the brides name is Kelurah Emilu louise Royal. I found marriage entry but nothing before that. Marriage was 1879 and she was 22. I will keep trying to see if shes been mistranscribed. Also, Iwould love to find the family living at 137 lower Kennington lane, Lambeth around 1897. Ive tried 1901 but cant find anything. Any help would be wonderful Kerry
