Hi all I hope someone can help!! I have a family in Flintshire who are MORRLLE in 1901, MORRLLE in 1891 and 1881, then they have been mis-transcribed as MORLEE in 1871 (from Christian names and birthdates I know it is them!!) Should I search earlier under the mis-transcribed name or under other variants of MORRLLE???? I feel a brick-wall coming on!!.... Any suggestions welcome.... Many thanks Sarah

We all get these mistranscriptions. I guess best to try every way you can and more! Do inform Ancestry of the errors though as if we all keep doing that one day it will be a lot more accurate. Morrell? Horrell?

Although they are immensely valuable, there are still lots of mistranscriptions on the census websites. If you try to imagine how someone might read the name from handwriting of the day if they didn't know what it was really supposed to be, then you might get some more possibles to keep in mind... Morille Morley and so on. And those assume that the first letter hasn't got misread! Christine
