help needed......How to add a name please

Can some-one tell me how I can add another name on my surname board?..................I have added mine, obviously! but wish to add another family name.... Thanks.

Hi Ann, I think you mean how do you add to your tree? Click on Build Your Tree on the menu on the left hand side that will open up your tree with presumably just you present, then click on add relation (top left of screen) The more people you add the more varied the surnames wil become in 'your name summary' Hope that makes sense. Wow! Thanks for the quick responses.I'll try + explain better. In my name summary ......I have surname +..entire database I am trying to add another name to the data base Does that make sense? Sorry to be so dumb but I am new to all this. Thanks again, Ann

I think I understand - you want to add the surname, but don't have a relevant relative? Can't be done AFAIK... one can only add a person, rather than a name. Anyone know different?

Hi Ann, you don't sound dumb. If you don't ask you won't find out! It's like Lauren said, if you add a person to your tree then thier name will be added to the 'entire database' I don't think you can add a 'stand alone' name though. If were looking to post something on the trying to find boards under a certain name who may not be directly related then add that name to your tree first as a relation, then post the looking for message as you will have access to that name under 'your name summary' then go back and delete that person from your tree. The looking for message will remain, but your tree will be clear of unrelated people. Yell up if you need more advice. Sioux
