adopted people?

dear sheila and sam thanks for your replys thats cleared something up for me i was wondering why i checked on the 1837 i was registered in my birth name but there was no entry under my adopted name just a number scribbled by my birth name kind regards donna

Hi Donna, If you are adopted you are originally registered under your 'birth name' when your adoption goes through a second certficate is issued, and this normally states taken from an extract of the Registrars Office, this is the adoption book where all adoption details are entered. There is never an entry under births in your adopted name only ever under your birth name. Hope you understand all this. Sheila

Hi, I am adopted and when I went to FRC found my adoption in a separate place from the main certificates. I do not have a post adoption birth certificate but have a certificate of adoption instead. Sam

if a person was adopted and would they have two entrys in the births register ,one in there first name and one in there second name or is there a different register for addoptions any ideas please kind regards donna
