I wish I could go! The head archivist there has done a LOT of research for me. She is wonderful! She has helped me (more like done all the work) find my grandfather, I didn't even know his name. Her name is Diane Vanderson. Pat

Just found this in the local paper. I think I may attend. You never know they might have the odd tip for tracing my lot. A special family history event tied in to the popular BBC2 series “Who Do You Think You Are?” will take place at the Family History Centre at Hertfordshire Archives & Local Studies (HALS), County Hall on Saturday 4 December, from 10.00am - 4.00pm. The event is open to anyone who is interested and the attractions will include: - Family history displays - children’s activity (draw a Fantastic Family Tree) - help from the experts on family history conundrums - plus all the sources and materials held by HALS for researchers Experienced family history consultants will be on hand to help and guide you through the census, parish registers, indexes to births, marriages and deaths, and the huge variety of sources on the Internet. You will be able to pick up your FREE copy of the BBC booklet “Who Do You Think You Are?” or buy a copy of “Tracing Your Family History In Hertfordshire”, written by HALS staff and the Herts Family History Society. Published by Herts Publications, price £9.99, this comprehensive book is essential reading for anyone researching their Hertfordshire ancestors. It covers subjects as diverse as military ancestors, household and property records, and the poor and the sick. It also gives details of where to find more information, including helpful websites.
