ANOTHER SCAM

Its so strange because the scam mail directs you to a website that is for fitness equipment! Yet the scammed order is supposedly for cd software! I cant see where they could gain financially from this - just wonder if it is a disgruntled ex employee giving their bosses a lot of hassle? I have rung the credit card company and nothing has been taken out. They assured me if it was a fraud the money would have been removed before the message arrived. They said to keep ringing for next week and even if it is removed they will reclaim it. Apparently they cant block a single item, just block your whole card, which would be a real pain for me at the moment. Thanks for all your good wishes, at least there are some decent people on here!!

Heather - Don't ever follow a link to a web-site you don't know!! There are several e-mails going the rounds supposedly from well known banks asking you to follow their link to a web-site and then asking for your bank details. It's a con.

If you phone the help line on your last statement they will be able to tell you if the money has been taken. Ann Glos

I only use banking and credit card systems where I can examine the details online: that way if anything odd crops up I know about it immediately rather than three weeks later when the statement comes.

Hi I have had emails similar to this before asking me to verify my card details - which I did not do. I would check with your credit card company to make sure a payment has not been taken from your card. Trish

I have just received an email from a company called andrew brewer thanking me for my order for 2 cds of computer software and telling me a charge of $79 has been made to my credit card! I went to the website and there is a note saying fraudulent emails have been sent using their address which has nothing to do with them. What on earth is this about. Surely they havent been able to access my credit card details. Has anyone else had this one?
