Ann You should be able to find some good trade directories for Dublin that may wll give you a lead on the Dublin foundry. You could try to google a Dublin site or try the following archives in Dublin to see if they can help you. Ireland National Archives Bishops Street Dublin 8 www.nationalarchives.ie Ireland National Library Dublin http://www.nli.ie/new_what_res.htm Janet

Thank you one and all. No - our Warrens are pure Hampshire back to early 17th century! What I am looking for in Ireland is Spence family in Dublin - came from Scotland early/mid 19th Cent and opened up a foundry in Dublin. Ann

Ann Try the following web address (remove brackets): http://www(.)censusfinder(.)com/ireland.htm It has some census information. It is segregated into the different counties so it helps if you have a vague idea as to where your ancestors may have come from. With kind regards Karen

Ann, You could try the CMC Record Project. There is quite a bit of information on there. Good luck. Frances

Ann To trace Irish relatives through the census you really need to know the address as none are indexed, but if you at least know the county, it is possible to trace with a lot of hard work if it is a country district, but almost impossible if it is a City/Town without the address. There is no 1881 Census for Ireland. The only census available are 1901 and 1911. You will find "scatterings" of Census all over Ireland on the internet. Just try googling the place of interest. There are some 1901 census entries around Ann, but I not sure where. Depends on the county you are looking for. You might find some links here http://www(.)cyndislist(.)com/ireland(.)htm Remove the brackets

Any ideas - can I get any Irish census online? Ann

I think that the earliest census for Ireland to survive is the 1901, as the earlier ones were destroyed in a fire in 1922.
