If you are trying to find someone that has been adopted what is the best way to go about it as not sure if name was changed any info to help would be really grateful as am a bit stuck here

Sheila What year was the person born in? Adoption didn't exist officially until the 1920's. Before that it was an informal arrangement between families. After then, it's very difficult to trace a adoptee as there are laws in place to protect the adopted person. If the person's name was changed, you can only obtain a copy of the certificate issued at birth giving the original name. Only the adoptee can obtain a copy of the adoption certificate. Lou
