Hi Colin I have found a birth for a Frank Bastiman, mothers maiden name Bailey. Born in Sculcoates Jan,Feb, Mar 1926 vol 9d page 297. I have looked from 1922 to 1932 and that is the only one I could find. Trish

Frank Bastiman was a coach painter for a bus company. It seems unlikely that she was born abroad, I have not heard anything in the family to suggest it. I have seen mention of her brothers births being listed in 1926 (Frank (jnr) and Alfred). i will try to get their certificates. There has been a family rumour that three of the siblings were registered as Bastiman and the other four as Bailey. Thanks again for your help. Colin

Hi Colin I looked on 1837online. I have just been looking from 1919 to 1929 for a marriage for Frank Bastiman and have not found anything. Couldn't find a birth for Doris Bastiman either. Trish

Hi Colin I have found a marriage record for Doris Bastiman and George W Newbon in Hull during Jul, Aug, Sep 1954 vol 2a page 767 This might help you. Trish

Unfortunately I do not know when she married the first time around. Her first husband was called George. My guess is that she married around 1962 and that she need some sort of identity to get married - hence the Baptisim certificate.

Dad is called Dennis and they married 12 March 1964. they married at the Hull Register Office. At the time of her marriage to my father she was known as Doris Newbon, as she had been widowed.

I would be very grateful for some advice on how to trace my mother's birth certificate. I have a copy of a baptisim certificate which suggests that she was baptised on 29 Oct 1929 and that her date of birth was 18 Oct 1929. Her name was Doris Bastiman, father Frank and mother Rose. I believe her mothers maiden name was Bailey. I have done a serch on yorkshirebmd to no avail. I have also searched microfiches from 1926 to about 1931 looking under both Bastiman and Bailey. The baptisim certificate seems to have been issued in 1962 (which I presume was around the time of her first marriage). I have her marrriage certificate to my father in 1964 and also her death certificate which both say she was born 18 October 1929, but I can't find it listed anywhere. Can anyone give me any pointers!
