Gaynor, you could try contacting the Federation of Licenced Victuallers who may be able to direct you to where records of Licencees are held. I found a number of sites that have indexes but they refer to specific locations. Their web site is www(.)flva(.)co(.)uk they can be contacted by e-mail or you could write to Federation of Licenced Victuallers 126 Bradford Road Brighouse, West Yorkshire HD6 4AU Hope you find something helpful Kathleen

I can only find one pub in the village itself - The Charlton Inn, but it's on Bournemouth Road.

Try GENUKI, go to the town and look for info like trade directories.

I have in my tralws throu the net found many site for towns villages and disticts. most of these have a page on there pups and inns (with a short history). why not see if you can find it that way. all you need to know is the area and have (as you do) some clue to its name or location in the town. If not the local history buffs will normaly help out (as they have with me dozens of time THANK ALL) and you also make some great contacts

My gt.gt.gt.gt. Uncle John Palmer was Inn Keeper of an Inn in Charlton Marshall in 1861. How can I find out more about this please. G :-) ps I don't know the name of the Inn but I think it may have been on Gravel Lane.
