Hi, It seems most my ancestors came from England and Scotland. I don't suppose there would be any Australian info on it would there? The person I am most interested in came out to Aust at some stage in the 1870's or 1880's Is there much in the way of passenger info on people coming to Aust.? Or members of crew coming over? Anyway advise or info much appreciated. Victoria

Ancestry(.)co.uk is good for England & Wales - not much on Scotland though. Ancestry(.)com is good for USA, including immigration from/to USA but I don't think that it covers Oz. Each area requires a separate subscription, but there's lot's a "free" passwords going around at the moment so you may be able to get in and have a look for free - search these boards for "Ancestry Plus". ancestry is very good for England with 1871 (not quite complete), 1881, 1891, 1901 (not complete). They move on to 1861 when these are complete. It has the advantage that you can search several censuses at a time so sometime someone might turn up in Wales or the Channel Islands. You can also download the images of the pages. There are lots of transcription errors but most times I can find a match. Scotland is already well served with their own sites which have more information online than England. For Australia have a look at Cyndi's List , there should be some links there http://www.cyndislist.*com The so called "free" ancestry passwords are actually hacks so it is illegal to use them. MB
