How can I present my data?

I've been researching my tree for about a year, and have lots of certificates, census prinouts etc. I'd like a good way of presenting my tree, but I don't have a home PC or any specialist software. How can I use Word/Excel to type up my data and build a comprehensive tree? I have access to work/public computers so these are the only programs I can use. If anyone has any examples/recommendations, please let me know! Thanks Rachel

Hi Rachel have a look at the new downloadable forms here on GR. They look good for somebody in your position. Good luck Pauline

You could use some of the forms on the home page of this site if you can download them at work. Even though I've got a family tree programme I find it useful to do some things by hand. You could use the family relationship sheet for each generation of a family and maybe the fan chart for the direct ancestors. I have mine all in files with the certificates, wills, photos and other stuff for each family. Anne

If you want to, you can use this site. Although the tree is unwieldy, it is capable of being exported into another software package at a later date. Sensitive data: like children's dates of birth can be entered under "additional information" so they aren't revealed to casual browsers. I have used spreadsheets from time to time, but it gets very complicated as you add additional information. Having tried every system under heaven, a specialist package, if you keep the data up to date! is the best way to retrieve your information. Good luck Brenda

If you buy the latest Your Family Tree magazine there is a free poster sized family tree chart to fill in, plus the option to buy more at a special offer price. Maggy
