First cousins are any children from your perants brothers or sisters second cousins are via grandperants brothers or sisters in other words your mums or dads uncles or aunts

I think I saw an explanation (?by Little Nell?) which said that if you share a grandfather you are first cousins, if you share a great-grandfather then you are second cousins and so on. Being "removed" is about different generations up or down - but that bit gets complicated and I'm not sure whether I have the hang of that yet! Christine
