You can also apply for his army records were you will find his birth date and were he was living at time of enlistment. You will need proof of relaitionship, normaly a birthcertificate will do. you can find out were to write to vie Nat Archives link or you can go throu the BBC History Bloodline site. Oh yes any info on him (army number, Regament, posting things like that) will help locate his records. If he has won a galentry medal or done some thing out standing, the regament might have some thing on him in there rolls of honour or museum.

Try the scotlandspeople web site. You need to buy credits but it is reasonable at £6 for 30 credits and you should be able to find Alfred by searching the statutory births register if he was born in Scotland and you know the year and father's name. Good luck. Louise

My G Grandfather Alfred Charles Henderson was born in Scotland in 1890. The family is not sure where could be Fort William or Lanark? The only information I have is from his marriage certicate is his father's name John Henderson. (He got married in 1911 in London) So how can I find out where he was born and who is his mother. I know he has served in the WW1. Thanks Valerie
