Thanks Sam, I have looked at the 1901 for Ellen Langley (there are quite a few under the age of 25!!) I hadn't thought of looking under Cowler though so I will do that now on the off chance she was an older mother!!!! Thanks again.... kx

Hi Karen Have you looked on the census for Ellen Langley? Just thinking if she gave birth in 1920 she must have been under 45 (hopefully) si 20 years earlier would have been 25 at the most. Was she married by this time or still single and listed under her maiden name? Just a thought Sam

Hi all, I am looking for my Great Grandmother... the information I have (taken from my grandfathers birth cert) is that she was born Ellen Langley, went on to marry a Cowler and then gave birth to my grandfather on 19/08/1920 by a man called Charles Lemaire. They were living at 4 Warrington Road, Richmond, Surrey at this time. (This road is still there) My grandmothers details on the above cert are ' Ellen Cowler formerly Langley of no occupation' She was obviously living with Charles Lemaire at Warrington Road as they have both given the same address. I have looked for a marraige on FBD for Langley/Cowler but have not had any luck, there are quite a few Ellen Langley's on the 1901 census but because I don't know her age I don't know which one is mine....!! Any ideas anyone?? She is driving me batty and by all acounts was not a very nice person when she was alive either!!!! Thanks Karen
