With the Ebay scams you send the message complete & unaltered to "[email protected].(add the ebay for your country)you will get confirmation from ebay + a message to verify your membership, this is by way of a link at the bottom which will take you to Ebay.com you fill in your normal details & press secure log in,then you can exit & delete the scam message.

Samantha Until a ouple of months back email addresses were obtainable on this site just by clicking on a name on a site search- it used to show the email address then of the tree holder. On ebay if you ask a seller a question you can get someones email address and so on. We just have to be so careful - it's like there's several Dick Turpin's lurking on the internet. jacquie

Heather, watch out for that one offering to make you a power seller. Frightening these things, they all look so real. With ebay, its a good idea to download the toolbar thingy, it does work and warns you if you click on a link in a scam email.

Ive had a dutch one today - always getting the Nigerian ones and have had half a dozen of the "your e-bay account has been fraudently tampered with - please click on link and fill in your details" - Yeah, sure. I know some of them are off this site because it is the only place with my full name. I know a lot of them are through me buying things on e-bay. Just have to keep vigilant - had one telling me Id won £60k on the lottery the other day, only had to give them my bank details for them to transmit it electronically!! And whatever you do, dont open an email with the heading "Its a beautiful day". Apparently it can wipe your system and it doesnt even have an attachment.

Just to those who have their trees on the web - I've had two emails this week - quoting one of the surnames on my tree telling me I'm due an inheritance, just contact the sender - as if!! Just a warning, but I'm sure there's nobody who uses these boards who is daft. Thanks Jacquie
