Wales has been part of Britain the longest, since the 1200s I think but don't quote me. The whole of Ireland was added in 1800 and the Republic of Ireland broke away in 1922.

Scotland and England, instead of being seperate kingdoms, became Great Britain following the Act of Union in 1707. Christine

Wasn't it after the union that Elizabeth I and Mary I inadvertedly made??? Or am I getting confused? That's when James VI of Scotland became James I of Great Britain. Or has it always been known as Britain?? Britainnia??? Romano-British?
