Louise If you want medical terms in the future, try this site: www.paul_smith.doctors.org.uk/ArchaicMedicalTerms.htm TB was an extremely common killer until fairly recently. Other names for it are phthisis and consumption. nell

Hi Louise, Pulmonary is Lung, Pthisis is usually TB and haemoptisis is coughing up blood. So sounds like tuberculosis to me. Barbara

pulmon - spanish for lungs, so i'm guessing something to with lungs

Just got a new death certificate to decipher. Not only is the handwriting really tricky but I am baffled by cause of death - pulmonary phthisis haemoptysis ( I think!). This person lived in Manchester amd may have worked in the mills so I am guessing this is some sort of lung disease. They were only 29 years old at date of death. Thanks, Louise PS. Just added medical dictionary to my Christmas list!
