Finding a girls school in Liverpool circa 1920s

Hi there, I would think that most Directories of Liverpool such as Kelly's, Slaters or Pigot's, in the 1920's, would name all the schools that were open at that time and would probably give the name of the head teachers at that time. They usually list all the Churches and name the Minister, Rector or Father of the parish so why not do the same with the Schools. Worth a try. Mary

If the school - when you find it - no longer exists, you can check its name on the access to archives site - just google a2a - to see where its records are kept. Bear in mind that the school would just need to be within commuting distance (possibly walking/cycling/bus) from where Hannah lived. It won't necessarily be in the same road. Perhaps the Liverpool Library would have a schools directory for the period - if there's a set somewhere you could see how long she was head. nell

I have a relative, Miss Hannah Lunt, whose death cert tells me she was a headmistress of a girls school in Liverpool area. The family lived in Arkles Lane, Anfield area I think around this time. Can anyone answer these questions: 1. Am I right in thinking the school might have some interesting informatin archived on her? 2. How do I go about finding the school? 3. Is it likely to still exist?
