Records of Sale of Property?

Can anyone tell me where to start looking? Are there any records of sale of properties in the 1890's. I have been given by a kind Historian a copy of a will that one of my relatives was the main beneficiary. She was houskeeper for this lady who left her property etc in 1894 to the value of £365. In the following census she was back living with her family, still single and another family living in her property. Any records that would show a sale? Hope some one knows the answer. Thanks Barbara

Not sure, would it be worth looking on the land registry site, or maybe e amil them and ask for advice. Diane

Thanks for your suggestions. It's great isn't it that no matter how long you've been at this research game there is always a new query to look at, it's just a great learning curve. Will look into the land registry, thanks again for your help. Barbara

Solicitors keep copies of title deeds etc and periodically take them to the local record office. A friend of mine has the original deeds and mortgage agreements from when her house was built in 1860. Fortunately she's worked in a record office and she knows how to store them properly!

My friend has been given al documents relating to her house since it was built 1868. It shows us how the house passed thru various family members etc. There's a couple of mortages as well as a death cert. Also show various stages of development to the land, as her house was/is one of six orginally built by the first bloke.Really intresting. Her mtg lenders sent them to her as they were goiing to throw them away as they simply don't have the space to store all these documents. Shelli

Dear All Thanks for your suggestions, the person who owns the property at the moment is interested in who used to own the property and asked a local Historian to look into it. He has a list of the people and obtained the will of one of the owners (a widow), this was when it was discovered it was left to one of my ancestors (who was her housekeeper)in 1894. She must of disposed of it and that is what I'm trying to find out, how & why and if she sold it what she would have done with all that wealth as she was back living with her parents in 1901 who were Agr Labourers. thanks again Barbara

Barbara what is her occupation in 1901???? the reason i ask is the houses i mentioned earlier, two were eventually owned by the same family. One they lived in and the other was rented out. IN the 1891 the two ladies are listed as living on own means, which i presume is the rent from the 2nd property Shelli
