Your grandmother married twice, she was born 'James", married 'Turner" was widowed and married a second time to your grandfather. Peter

Yes I got my grandmothers marriage certificate from 1924 ALWAYS THOUGHT SHE WAS BORN Annie Turner but she was widow when she married a frederick Parrott Herfathers name was John James so I persume that her madien name for James In 1933 she had my mother and name on birth certificate was Turner? Then she the following Shelia Parrott? havent trace birth certificate yet Fredrick Parrott no birth certificate yet Dorreen Parrott mother madien name on this one James? Then she remarried twice more James and then Jackson altough their are 9 children My question was why are the mothers name diffrent on the birth certificate when Dorren and my mother Jean had the same father????

Is it possible that your mother's sister was adopted by your grandmothers new husband. Or she simply just changed your aunts surname to her husbands name. Nicola

It's the difference between the question what was your name before you got married? in the first case she answered "Turner" then she added -"but he died, my maiden(father's)name was James. At the next birth, when the question was askes she said "my maiden name was James" Hence she is the same person, and really got it right both times.
