Is it possible to search workhouse/foundling hospital records to check for family names? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks Sue.

Susan Are we talking about 1901 census on line or Ancestry website??? Also like anywhere else on the census some people could be mis- transcribed, foundling hospitals like Workhouses or any Institutions come up in any name search (if the name is correctly transcribed), BUT the reason I ask if its Ancestry if you know the place they should be there is a facility on Ancestry that separates Institutions in District listings and you can go through the 'inmates' listings, I have done to check none of mine were there with any slight variation of names, its worth a go if you have exhausted other areas. If you want any more info email me, no problem. Pat x
